Schotia Brachypetala
Drunken Parrot Tree (Weeping Boerbean): Boer-bean, Drunken Parrot Plant, Schotia Afra
Schotia Brachypetala, also known as the weeping boer-bean, can be started from seed. Soak the seeds in water for 24 hours before planting them in well-draining soil. Keep the soil moist and in a warm location with plenty of sunlight. Once the seedlings emerge and grow a few leaves, they can be transplanted into larger pots or directly into the ground. It is important to note that weeping boer-bean plants can take several years to bloom from seed.
Some of plants may have very have specific germination requirements that may not be covered in these general instructions.
Many seeds require pre-treatment before sowing which we try to list here when we can, but this information may not be present here. Germination times and germination temperatures are to be a guide only. Many factors can DRASTICALLY affect this.
It's always a good idea to research the specific germination requirements from multiple sources for each plant before attempting to grow them from seed.
