Germination of
Pouteria campenchiana
Cupcake Fruit - Eggfruit, Canistel, Yellow Sapote, Abiu Fruit
Pouteria campenchiana seeds should be soaked in water for 24-48 hours before planting to encourage germination. After soaking, the seeds can be planted in a well-draining soil mix. The soil should be kept moist but not wet, and the pot should be covered with plastic wrap or placed in a plastic bag to create a humid environment. The pot should be kept in a warm, bright location but out of direct sunlight. Germination can take anywhere from 1 to 4 weeks.
Some of plants may have very have specific germination requirements that may not be covered in these general instructions.
Many seeds require pre-treatment before sowing which we try to list here when we can, but this information may not be present here. Germination times and germination temperatures are to be a guide only. Many factors can DRASTICALLY affect this.
It's always a good idea to research the specific germination requirements from multiple sources for each plant before attempting to grow them from seed.
