Germination of
Passiflora cincinnata
Shark Passion Fruit Flower: Red passionflower, Passiflora coccinea
Passiflora cincinnata: Passiflora cincinnata seeds can be germinated using a few simple steps. First, soak the seeds in warm water for 24 hours to soften the seed coat. After soaking, plant the seeds in a well-draining potting mix or a mixture of peat and perlite. Cover the container with plastic wrap to create a humid environment and place it in a warm, bright location with temperatures between 70-80F. Mist the soil regularly to keep it moist, but not waterlogged. Germination can take anywhere from a few weeks to a few months, so patience is key. Once seedlings emerge, remove the plastic wrap and continue to grow them in a warm, bright location until they are large enough to be transplanted into their own containers.
Some of plants may have very have specific germination requirements that may not be covered in these general instructions.
Many seeds require pre-treatment before sowing which we try to list here when we can, but this information may not be present here. Germination times and germination temperatures are to be a guide only. Many factors can DRASTICALLY affect this.
It's always a good idea to research the specific germination requirements from multiple sources for each plant before attempting to grow them from seed.
