Germination of

Drosera venusta

Elegant Sundew: Drosera capensis (also known as Cape Sundew or Dewplant)

Drosera venusta

Drosera venusta, also known as the Sundew, is a carnivorous plant native to Australia. It can be propagated from seed or by vegetative methods such as division or leaf cuttings. To propagate from seed, sow the seeds on the surface of a moist soil mix of peat and sand in a pot or tray. Place the container in a warm and bright spot with temperatures ranging between 20-25C. Keep the soil moist and maintain high humidity by covering the container with a plastic wrap until the seeds germinate.

Some of plants may have very have specific germination requirements that may not be covered in these general instructions.

Many seeds require pre-treatment before sowing which we try to list here when we can, but this information may not be present here.  Germination times and germination temperatures are to be a guide only.  Many factors can DRASTICALLY affect this.

It's always a good idea to research the specific germination requirements from multiple sources for each plant before attempting to grow them from seed.
