Germination of

Caesalpinia pulcherrima

Red Bird of Paradise - Caesalpinia pulcherrima, Red Dwarf Poinciana, Pride of Barbados

Caesalpinia pulcherrima

Caesalpinia pulcherrima seeds can be soaked in warm water for 24 hours before sowing to encourage germination. They can be sown directly in a well-draining soil mix or in pots with a sterile seed-starting mix. The seeds should be covered with a light layer of soil and kept moist but not waterlogged. The ideal temperature for germination is around 70F (21C). Germination can take up to several weeks or longer, so be patient.

Some of plants may have very have specific germination requirements that may not be covered in these general instructions.

Many seeds require pre-treatment before sowing which we try to list here when we can, but this information may not be present here.  Germination times and germination temperatures are to be a guide only.  Many factors can DRASTICALLY affect this.

It's always a good idea to research the specific germination requirements from multiple sources for each plant before attempting to grow them from seed.
