Germination of

Amaranthus tricolor

Ornamental Joseph's Coat: Indian Blanket, Sunset Flower, Summer Poinsettia, Velvet Shawl, Yellowtop

Amaranthus tricolor

Amaranthus tricolor: Amaranthus tricolor seeds should be sown directly into well-draining soil with a pH of 6.0-7.5 once the soil has warmed up to 18-21C. The seeds should be planted 1 cm deep and kept moist during germination, which typically occurs within 7-10 days. Once the seedlings have emerged, they can be thinned to a spacing of 15-30 cm between plants.

Some of plants may have very have specific germination requirements that may not be covered in these general instructions.

Many seeds require pre-treatment before sowing which we try to list here when we can, but this information may not be present here.  Germination times and germination temperatures are to be a guide only.  Many factors can DRASTICALLY affect this.

It's always a good idea to research the specific germination requirements from multiple sources for each plant before attempting to grow them from seed.
